Bringing Healing Conversations to El Salvador

 

We are proud to announce a partnership between Friendship Bench and Alight to bring the evidence-based Friendship Bench model to vulnerable communities in Apopa, El Salvador.

 

Through this collaboration, we are integrating mental wellness support into Alight’s Movement, an initiative working with Catholic Sisters to uplift internally displaced communities in Apopa.

Since March 2024, the partnership has focused on embedding Friendship Bench’s task-sharing mental health model into Alight’s community programs. Through this initiative, Catholic Sisters who are trusted, respected figures within their communities were trained to deliver the Friendship Bench.

 

This model ensures that mental health support is accessible by working with trusted community members, and is rooted in local understanding.
